So you went out and you started your new business. You picked your name and then you bought your domain. You started making posts and suddenly…
Visitors!
You start to feel good. You start to feel like you’re reaching your audience. You’re doing your part to make sure you’re getting at least one good post up every day and suddenly…
Your internet is out.
Well the good news is your site’s still up thanks to the redundancy of the hosting provider. The bad news is you’re left in a quandary of how to update your site, or answer email.
But you’re good! You’ve got a smartphone and a data plan and all is right with the world.
I only have one question.
Did you do that on purpose?
Redundancy is about good design. In order to have redundancy you need to think about what might happen. Or you can learn your lesson slowly over time and make changes to what you’re doing and learn accommodate those situations that arise one at a time.
What if you lost power?
Now your internet’s down and your phone’s on 15%. What now?
But for the part-time website owner which most people are… The redundancy you need to plan for each day… Is unexpected loss of time.
What’s happens when your day job causes you to have to work well into the evening hours? What priority does your new site get at that point ?
How can you prepare for the loss of time ?
If you can figure out an answer to that question your site will keep going and you’ll be more likely to find success.
