Let’s just say your New Year’s resolution was to finally to fix up your personal Cyber Security in 2020. I know.. hardly as appealing as losing the 10 pounds of winter fat, or telling your friends you are quitting Facebook. Afterall, your teenagers moved on from Facebook years ago.
After the bowl games, the Superbowl, the Daytona 500, you were well into February and the media began lambasting you with news about some new virus that started in China and would never make it to the shores of the United States.
Now its June.
And you are no more secure than you were six months ago. In fact, you are less secure. Because the computer technology world keeps changing. What used to be a good defense, has gone the way of the sword and shield, and the blackberry.
But you continue to laugh at articles about the Fenderal government still using 1970s-era computers with outdated code and hiring former employees as consultants since they are the only ones who know how to use them.
Still using Windows 7 to read this ?
Its time to upgrade. Protect that which is most important to you. I’d hate to see your Candy Crush scores hacked by some low-life.
If you are going to go online, take some of your stimulus check, and buy a computer that’s current and will be actively patched.
Why am I mentioning this ? Over 13% of the computers that browse the web in the United States are still using Windows 7. That means one out of every eight computers still uses Windows 7.
Let’s end this scourge and get this right!
