Day 4 – A 60 Day DNS Oops

My business name and DNS name cyberroapmap.com were chosen before I chose a content manager. I registered my domain with GoDaddy.com – a service which I’ve used off and on for many years.

Sidebar: I’ve used GoDaddy on and off over the years because I can usually find another place to host my DNS service for less money. However, they are usually very competitive with the initial pricing.

Unfortunately, it’s been a while since I’ve registered a domain that I would like to transfer. Thus, I was unaware of an ICANN rule implemented on December 1st 2016 that states:

Please note that you may not transfer your domain name to a new registrar within the first 60 days after initial registration, or the first 60 days after a transfer.

In the mean time, I’ve setup DNS masking, but that doesn’t work with the free certificate provided by WordPress.com. The good news is that this will give me some time to build some of the security roadmaps I intend to share.
